Google Continuously Updating Backlinks?
It seems that Google is taking much attention for Updating Backlinks. Last official Backlink Update(with Page Rank) was on New Year (January 1 – 2010). Page Rank of Mextena.com increased from 1 to 3 on that update. There was also a tiny increase in the number of backlinks.
But This is not the wonder. Last Day My blogs (3 of my .com blogs and rest of blogger blogs) got its backlinks updated! Well, Most of the sites (Which I have checked) experienced the same change. This change is not common yet. I saw a lots of sites moving without any changes in backlinks. Whatever it is, I was so amazed by this unexpected movement from Google.
So, What do you think? or… What is Google thinking?
Are they taking much care about Page Rank, Backlinks and similar SEO factors? If yes, Its time to Spend time for your blog.
I also noticed that my page rank increased from 0 to 2, maybe this was new year gift !

Yeah I did notice. Mine upped itself from PR1 (which it got last October) to PR2.

Maybe someone can clarify this for me..
Google seems to continuously update backlinks via their webmaster tools and also via the link: command for my websites.
Also, there seem to be mentions of page rank updates and yet I understood that the page rank in the google toolbar changes allthe time as well e.g. I started a blog in January and it has gone from a 0 to a 1 already
If so what is it that Google update every 3 months?

It is said that Google Updates Page Rank once every 3 Month. It is not specifically for a Website/Blog. It is the total Time schedule of Google Page Rank Update. So that, Page Rank update will make changes for every Website/Blog (If it is worth).
In your case, You just started your blog on January. According to the reports, Google also updated Page Rank on January (My blog jumped to 3 in this update).
