Don’t think that Blogroll is a Widget which we need to put in our blog without care. There is certain factors you must know before adding a Blogroll in your blog.

What is a Blogroll?

It is most commonly a Blog widget containing links to certain related Blogs. Some Blogers use this place for selling some sponsored links.

Things we must know before adding a Blogroll

• It must only contain a maximum of 10 links: Most of the Search engines hates more external links from your pages. Thus decreasing your external links will work better for you in SEO.
• Try to put related Blogs in the Roll: Showing some non-related links from your blog makes your blog dirty in front of Search Engines and readers.
• Better to keep Blogroll in sidebar: It will be good looking if you can keep Blogroll in your sidebar as a widget.
• It must only link towards a Blogs, not a sub-page: Blogroll is a set of blogs not a set of links, thus all the links of a Blogroll must point towards the home page of the respective blog.
• Avoid affiliate/Sponsored links in Blogroll: Don’t Make Money here! Please avoid Affiliate/Sponsored links in your Blogroll. This will make your Blog looks dull
• Heading should be ‘BlogRoll’: Giving some other Title for your blogroll will not look perfect in anyway. A set of links with a respective Title will not make a Blogroll. Blogroll is always Blogroll

Why I do not have a Blogroll?

You might have noticed that – I am not using Blogroll in my blog: mextena. I don’t know what made me to take the decision of avoiding Blogroll, It is all because I hate Blogroll!!!
